"He (the Dalai Lama) headed a social system that was exploitative, terribly terribly unequal, and terribly brutal."
"You had a privileged priest class, living in utter luxury and opulence, and you had a mass of serfs living in utter misery."
"His holiness would tell you that he must return to power for the good of his people. In this case "good" may translate to his people living in squaller and his government condoning slavery."

Agreement on Measures for the Peaceful Liberation of Tibet (Detail)
The Tibetan nationality is one of the nationalities with a long history within the boundaries of China and, like many other nationalities, it has done its glorious duty in the course of the creation and development of the great Motherland. But, over the last 100 years or more, imperialist forces penetrated into imperialist
forces penetrated into the Tibetan into the Tibetan region and earned out all kinds of deceptions and provocation’s. Like previous reactionary Governments, the Kuomintang reactionary Government continued to carry out a policy of oppression and sowing dissension among the nationalities, causing division and disunity among the Tibetan people...(Detail)
This is the so-called non-violence that Dalai Lama advocates!
On 2nd April, 2008, the Chinese channel of Radio France International (RFI) has interviewed the spokesman of Dalai Lama. The following is part of whole interview where the spokesman defines Dalai Lama's meaning of non-violence protest.
Journalist: ....Chinese government has suspected Dalai Lama many times about his advocation of non-violence in protest, and asked if Dalai Lama really insists in non-violence protest, then why he hasn't denounced the act by Tibetan riots who have killed many ethnic Hans in the 3.14 incident?
The spokesman: First of all, Tibetans are acting non-violently all the time in the incident. From the perspective of Tibetans, the violence refers to the killing of a person. We can see from the videos that Tibetans are only beating ethnic Hans, note they are only beating people. Afterwards, those Hans have run away, therefore, those Hans have only been beaten rather than being killed! Then those who have been killed are all out of accident. We can clearly see, based on the reports by the Chinese government, those(Ethnic Hans) ran upstairs to hide from Tibetans who has broken into the house. When the Tibetans set fire on the house, those Ethnic Hans didn't run away at all but hide. As a result, they died accidentally. While those Tibetans who set the fire didn't know there are Ethnic Hans hiding in the house. Therefore, those killed by burning are not only Ethnic Hans but Tibetans. All of this is an accident, rather than a slaughter.
The Tibetan people are well known for being devoutly religious and peace loving. What is less known is that thousands of Tibetans took up arms against the invading forces of Communist China and waged a bitter and bloody guerrilla war. From the mid-1950s until 1969 they were aided in their efforts by an unlikely ally, the CIA. This project, code-named ST CIRCUS, was one of the CIA's longest running covert operations. The withdrawal of the CIA's support in 1969 was as abrupt as its initial involvement was unexpected: the Tibetans had simply fitted into America's larger policy of destabilising or overthrowing Communist regimes, and when that no longer applied, they were abandoned. With unique archive footage and exclusive interviews with former resistance fighters and surviving CIA operatives, The Shadow Circus: The CIA in Tibet reveals for the first time this hitherto unknown chapter in Tibet's recent history - a tale that is both heroic and tragic, full of sad ironies and unexpected twists that overturn all preconceptions about both Tibet and the CIA.
